How Do I Get Involved?

We know that people who want to get involved with us are thinking one of two things:

1) I need to get some real world experience before I graduate! Or

2) I really should doing my assessment that’s due tomorrow… but now is definitely the best time to be planning my semester break.

Either way, you don’t have a lot of time, and we get it, so we’ve made getting involved as quick and easy as possible!

Apply Online

If you love the sound of us, are keen to get involved, or just want to have a chat to one of our team to find out more and the suitability for you, visit our Get Involved page. Don’t worry, putting your name down doesn’t commit you to anything other than an expression of interest!

Please note that we only accept applications for projects running within a year of the application date, as we can not guarantee projects and capacity any earlier in advance. E.g. If you apply in August 2018, you can only apply for projects running in Dec 2018, Jan & Feb 2019, or July 2019.

Have a Chat

If you’re keen to have a chat, then so are we! This is the opportunity to have a one-on-one chat over the phone with one of our team to answer any questions you might still have about us. We can also tell you about what credit, grants or funding opportunities might be available for you through your university and what projects might be best suited for you. All of our team are members of PEV alumni, with some having spent time as team and senior leaders overseas too, so pick their brains about what life is like as a trekker!

Attend an Interview

You’ve applied, you’ve spoken to us over the phone (you’re probably still on the phone if you were chatting to Jack), and you’re ready for the next step! The main thing that we look for in prospective trekkers is Emotional Intelligence and how effectively you can work with others, and we’ve found that the best way to do this is through a group interview. This is a 90 minute info and interview session with other students where we get to see you in action! No need to prepare a fancy portfolio, dance routine or tuxedo, we just want to see how you think and interact with others.

Get Offered a Place

If you’ve made it to this point then congratulations! If you are successful following your group interview and we think you’ll make a good fit for us (and us for you), we’ll give you a call offering you a place on one of our projects!

Go Overseas!

This is pretty self-explanatory, but it’s definitely the most exciting step!
